Research Apprenticeship

The Department of Sociology would like to invite Sociology Faculty and Graduate Students to participate in our two-quarter Research Apprenticeship Program as Principle Investigators (PI).

What is the RA Program?

The Research Apprenticeship program is designed to pair motivated Sociology majors with PIs who need assistance conducting their research.

PIs are to submit their research proposal, which will then be compiled and posted online. Undergraduate students will apply to the program in Fall Quarter. PIs will then have the opportunity to see and interview applicants apprentice that they would like to work with.

Undergraduate students selected into this program must complete around 12 hours per week as a research assistant for their assigned mentor in Winter and Spring Quarter (Spring Quarter only relevant if both sides agree to continuing during Spring quarter). These students will also have the option to take SOCI 109M on writing from research in Spring Quarter.

  • After successful completion of one student team, you may be eligible to have a team of apprentices the following academic year
