Research interests: sociology of science, technology, and medicine, queer studies, computational social science

My primary research project compares the intellectual opportunity structures of gay, transgender, and intersex activism. I focus on how activism in legislative, judicial, and social arenas affect and are affected by biomedical and psychological understandings of sexuality, gender, and sex.

My secondary research projects are varied. I am exploring the application of natural language processing and other CSS methods to the study of scientific texts, and am interested in the history of natural disaster expertise amongst astronomers who study near-Earth asteroids.
